Involvement of the Czech inhabitants in public affairs (CZ.6.05.2013.221.006)

This project is focused primarily on the involvement of Czech citizens in public activities such as petitions, public fund raising, public discussions etc. Attention was also paid to the Czech citizens’ involvement in addressing problems in their place of residence. The main objective of the whole project is to identify the causal link between inhabitants’ participation in public affairs and attitudes towards socio-political development of the Czech Republic. Results published in all outputs are based on a sample of the Czech population that was selected by quota sampling; 1.327 face-to-face interviews were conducted.

The analysis of obtained data revealed several groups of inhabitans participating in public affairs. Description of selected types of public affairs in which inhabitans take part is included. Also reasons for their participation were inquired.

Czech citizens’ interest in involvement in the decisions on issues in their place of residence

An analysis of the data focused on identifying the degree of the citizens’ involvement in addressing issues in their place of residence and, in effect, their involvement in public activities. In particular, the study focused on the citizens’ interest in decision-making concerning selected issues in their place of residence.

Life satisfaction in the light of Czech citizens’ income and household organisation

The research was focused on citizens’ satisfaction with their lives, which can depend to the socio-economic situation of their households to a great degree. A data analysis identified differences in the reviewed phenomenon in particular in terms of household income.

Ways of problem solving at the place of residence among Czech inhabitans

An analysis of the data focused on identifying the most frequent approaches that Czech citizens use to address problems occurring in their place of residence. It also identified the steps that citizens are willing to take in connection with addressing issues in their place of residence.

 

Engagement of the Czech inhabitants: attitude to signing petitions

The article deals with the issue of petition signing. The data analysis identified differences in the observed phenomenon among different population groups.

Data analysis focuses on the relation between the inhabitants’ attitude to decision-making processes and their involvement in activities of public interest.

Attitude of Czech citizens to the amount of taxes and its correlation with the involvement in events of public interest

The data analysis focuses on the relationship between the attitude of the citizens to the amount of taxes collected by the government and the involvement of opinion groups in activities of public interest.

The main objective of the whole project is to identify the relationship between perceptions of safety, fears of crime and victimization, and overall satisfaction with life.

Current outputs of this project are described below and are availabile to free download but only in czech language. Results published in all outputs are based on a sample of the Czech population that was selected by quota sampling; 1,211 face-to-face interviews were conducted.

This article describes the perception of safety of the population of the Czech Republic at the place of their residence. It also analyzes and describes the regional differences in the perception of safety in the Czech Republic. Results also demonstrate differences based on gender and separate evaluation of safety for day and night. The main objective of the whole project is to identify the relationship between perceptions of safety, fears of crime and victimization, and overall satisfaction with life.

Importance of corruption from the perspective of the Czech population

This article describes selected factors of behavior and their perception by inhabitants of the Czech Republic. Among others, it analyzes the topic of corruption; special attention is paid to the attitudes of respondents in relation to their socio-demographic profile. The main objective of the whole project is to identify the relationship between perceptions of safety, fears of crime and victimization, and overall satisfaction with life.

The main objective of the whole project is to assess the attitudes of the Czech population to donation from a sociological point of view. Attention was focused on socio-demographic factors that can influence the willingness of the Czech inhabitans to donate for charitable purposes.

The results focus on identifying the average amount of funds donated by Czech citizens for charity. Attention is also focused on socio-demographic factors that can influence the amount of the donations. The average amount of donated funds is then compared with regard to the respondents’ gender, completed education, socio-economic status and profession.

An analysis of the data obtained through research focuses on the description of the most frequent forms that Czech citizens use to donate funds. Attention was also focused on the amount of donations and the average values donated using the various forms. Factors that can influence the differences in the manner of donating funds were also examined.
